ACTING-PRO
%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
Welcome to ACTING-PRO, the most
visited discussion list on the Internet specifically designed as an open
forum for the serious professional actor, director, or teacher to exchange
ideas about all aspects of the art and craft of creating theater and film.
By "professional," we'd
like to think of someone who strives to maintain the highest possible
personal artistic standards, and who conceives of a life in theatre or
motion pictures as something more than a casual hobby, or just a way of
earning a great deal of $$$$$$s. Ardent amateurs, students, critics, members
of the academic community, and others who share this view are enthusiastically
invited to participate.
We heartily encourage questions about theory, talk of new and old approaches, critical observations, and unique perceptions that may be of interest and use to others who share
your passion. At the same time we want to maintain a high level of discussion,
and so we discourage idle chit-chat and the lengthy recounting of personal
experiences that don't make a relevant point about acting or directing.
As two of the co-owners of this list have spent many years in Italia, ACTING-PRO
will attempt to reflect the cordiality and openness of that splendid country.
If you wish to join us, then imagine yourself at some sunny outdoor caffé
where all are free to come and go as they please. If someone or something
interests you, then join in the conversation. If someone irritates or
bores you, please treat that person con civiltá, and move
on to the next table, or discuss something else.
In every society, even caffé society, there are some simple rules of behavior.
